Caring for Sutures

Surgical operations have specific and detailed instructions as to its performance and precautionary measures from the time of its planning, to its actual carrying out and after its operation. Post-operative care is an important section of surgical operation because the treated area is normally not completely healed after the performance of surgical operation. The patient is generally being sent to his or her house with sutures. Sutures use as its material the silk thread, wire, or catgut among others with which two surfaces are placed in apposition. Once the seam is formed, it is called as surgical suture. (more…)
